I was mostly unconvinced by twitter spec that buck actually/also gets kidnapped but...
a. athena's "maddie" being edited in is definitely interesting and
b. Tim saying "let's just say he's going to feel even more abandoned by the time we get into episode 10" is...very interesting

Also - in the I don’t have to sleep with everyone I have feelings for scene we also got Buck straight up implying heavily that he was just sleeping with Tommy for the sex and that he didn’t actually have feelings for him - and that will be funny to me forever more!

crucially after their one (1) kind of a joke kind of serious date eddie kisses chimney stupid after walking chimney to the door of his and maddie's house. tongue at all. like it starts as silly both of them tipsy and kind of snickering but then eddie Puts His Mind To It as he's not a man to half-ass anything. it doesn't even last two minutes but chim short-circuits anyway and eddie breaks it off and starts laughing and patting chimney on his shoulder and then he says, see you tomorrow at work!, and walks away without looking back. chimney walks inside in a daze while maddie's on the couch with jee and doesn't get further than "So hypothetically speaking-" before maddie says, "We're not having a threesome with Eddie." without looking up from whatever she and jee are doing. and chimney sighs a little wistfully and dreams about it at least two times a year in a totally chill and casual way.

look, I consider myself to be very tommy positive. I enjoy(ed) his character and his relationship with buck, as well as his friendship with eddie (as short-lived as both may have been) but how anyone can watch 8x11 and believe with full confidence that this is leading to a bucktommy endgame is honestly beyond me

The 118 threatening Tommy with bodily harm NOT because he broke up with Buck, but because they’re going to drown in baked goods if he doesn’t do SOMETHING.

"Okay, whatever," Maddie says, literally waving Eddie off (with good reason, too, it's her wedding Eddie, get it together).
That man is her annoying little brother's annoying best friend, and she is SO done with the both of them.

ok everyone hold my hand. let’s do an episode recap. so buck is failing to accept his reality (eddie moving to texas) and failing to cope with all the special feelings of abandonment it’s filling him with. he’s taking it so bad that he’s actively trying to prevent eddie from moving. this results in a whole montage of buck “helping” (not helping) eddie get the house rented where he tells people various things about the neighborhood like this is His House and He Lives Here. all of these potential renters think they’re a gay couple, this isn’t explicitly stated but we can infer this based on it’s the obvious conclusion anyone with eyes would come to. then buck overhears eddie lying to potential renters about not having ties to los angeles. this makes him feel crazy. additionally, throughout the episode there is a stray dog that they are using as a vehicle to Say Things about how both buck and eddie are feeling about having to separate. buck adopts the dog, feeling a kinship to something abandoned by its owner. all of this results in buck trying to make eddie jealous by replacing him with the dog. which works and when buck says he’ll just move into a place that allows dogs eddie says “you’re gonna move for a dog?” the subtext here revealing that eddie wants buck to come to texas with him and is kind of sad that buck hasn’t offered. in a passive aggressive back and forth, buck reveals (“outs him”) to the rest of the 118 that eddie is moving. they are all sad he’s going but understand this is what’s right for his family. buck has a slight coming to god moment where he realizes the way he’s reacting to this whole thing is Not Normal at all. then when buck has to give the dog back to its owners he gives a sad speech about how the dog shouldn’t abandon its people because of how hard it is on them. eddie watches him somberly. later, buck shows up at eddie’s house and eddie initially believes he’s come to sabotage another potential renter and tries to frustratedly explain to buck, in what is not a normal thing to have to say to a friend, that this move is not about him and he has to do what’s best for chris. to which buck is like. absolutely eddie that is so true so that is why i will Live In Your House:) to Help You. actually ive already Broken My Lease:)) which opens the door for many possibilities to destroy buck’s sanity. lest we forget, this is literally what he did with abby. meanwhile maddie is telling a guy who is being framed for child murder that god will forgive him if he kills himself. this is real and it’s all happening on 911 on abc every thursday.

Eddie calls him about ten minutes after he finishes unpacking. And Buck doesn't—panic. He doesn't! He has no reason to panic. Tommy doesn't know a damn thing about him and Eddie. And Maddie, well. She doesn't know anything either. Not this.
Nobody but him and Eddie—and Chris—understand what they are to each other, and that's okay. Buck made his peace with that long ago. Long before he even knew he liked guys. Which. Not that that matters or has any sway on his perception of his and Eddie's relation—friendship. They're just BuckandEddie. Doesn't need to be any more than that. Just his best friend.
All this to say: when Eddie calls, he doesn't panic. He takes a very respectable three deep breaths, tries not to grimace at the leather squeaking under his ass and hits the green button with a hand that absolutely isn't shaking.
Because he's not panicking. He's happy. He's so happy. He gets to talk to Eddie. For the first time since he left. Why would he be panicking? Because of some stupid assumptions from an insecure ex? Sure, right. Like he'd ever let that touch him and Eddie.
Competition, he thinks, like Tommy ever could have competed with Eddie Diaz.
"H-hey, E-eddie." Buck isn't sure why he stumbles over Eddie's name. He's had enough practice over the past few days. Said it enough times in his life that it should be able to slip out seamlessly every damn time.
"Hey, Buck." And there's Eddie sounding sure and confident and a little tired and warm and soft and so much like his best friend. Buck aches. "Just finished unpacking. Told myself I couldn't call until I was done. Incentive, y'know?"
And Buck grins. Grins so big his face hurts and he forgets all about the stupid leather couch underneath him. He imagines the two of them unpacking at the exact same moment, finishing in the same breath, still in sync even 800 miles apart. And then the second part of it hits him. Calling Buck his reward for menial, mind-numbing labour. The idea of hearing Buck's voice getting him through all the organising and reorganising and rereorganising. Fuck, he misses him.
"I, uh, I-I actually just unfinished packing too," Buck replies. A beat too late maybe. Doesn't matter. Eddie huffs a laugh, nothing matters but that.
"No shit. Should've known it'd take us a while to shake off the synchronicity." And Eddie's voice is so warm, so fond, it soothes the ache of the inevitable loss of their bond. That special tie between them that never let them stray too far soon to be severed. And then, like Eddie can hear him, "still a team even two states apart, huh?"
"Always a team," Buck replies, too soon this time probably. Doesn't matter. Not when he can hear Eddie's smile.
"How's the house treating you?" he asks, words shaped into something beautiful by the curve of Eddie's lips. But still, Buck's heart drops right out of his ass.
How does he answer that?
I missed you so much I couldn't sleep here without you. I didn't unpack because the house still feels like yours. The house still feels like yours because I wish it was. Yours. I couldn't sleep because you weren't snoring down the hallway. And the one night I did sleep here I had to fuck my ex as a distraction just to try and forget that you should be the one in that bedroom.
But he can't say any of that. He can't.
"Uhhhhhh." He blinks. Has forgotten every word in the English language.
"Buck?" Eddie's smile is gone.
"Why'd you stop talking to Tommy when we broke up?"
Silence. Fuck.
"He broke your heart, Buck," Eddie says slowly, evenly, too controlled. Hiding something. "Why the hell would I talk to him?"
"B-because. You guys were friends before me and him got together."
Eddie's straight. Tommy scoffs. Friends.
"And I promised to have your back five years before I even knew he existed," Eddie replies simply. "There was no competition there, Buck."
Oh. Oh, shit.
"How, um, how did you find out about that anyway?" Eddie asks when Buck's silence stretches on too long. "Not that it was a secret or anything. I just... I didn't tell you because I didn't think it mattered. And I know you didn't call Tommy, so..."
"No, n-no, I didn't call him." And he didn't is the thing. Didn't call him to apologise like he said he would to Maddie. Just. Let it lay.
"What aren't you telling me, Buck?" Eddie sighs. Buck misses his fucking sighs.
"Ravi called him. Well, found him. At the bar. And brought him over."
"Jesus Christ." And Buck can see him clear as day, bridge of his nose pinched between his thumb and forefinger. "Remind me to send Ravi a strongly worded e-mail on how to be your partner."
Buck kind of really wants to read that fucking email.
"We slept together," Buck blurts out.
Silence. Fuck.
"You and Ravi...?"
"No." Buck barks out a laugh. A startled sound. "No, not Ravi."
"Okay, okay, good," Eddie breathes out. "Because that would not be one of the points of the e-mail." Buck snorts again. Sobers instantly. Gets a sharp little pang in the pit of his stomach. No reason. "So. Tommy."
"Yeah." Buck ducks his head. "Tommy."
"Did you..." Eddie struggles with something for a moment, and Buck finds himself sitting up straighter, bracing for whatever comes next. "I mean, did you... When you... y'know, did you go to his or-or... yours?"
Buck bluescreens. Blacks out maybe. What the fuck?
"Um, y-yours or, no, mine. M-mine. It was closer. To the bar. And I—" And he what? What? What is it lurking in the shadows of his brain, slipping through his fingers like sand every time he thinks he's close enough to hold?
"Okay." Eddie says it like he's taking a punch.
"Is-is that, I mean, th-that's okay, right?"
"Well, I don't know if I'd classify sleeping with your ex as okay." Eddie makes some sort of noise. Half anguished and half furious. "Where the hell does he get off—" your bedroom, Buck thinks deliriously "—hooking up with the guy who's heart he broke?"
"He didn't break my heart, Eddie." Says it. Realises it's true.
"Oh, yeah, sure."
"He was scared I was gonna break his, remember?"
"Dumb," Eddie says succinctly. Buck snorts.
"I'm not getting back together with him or anything. It was just a one time thing. You don't have to worry about me showing up on your doorstep to brood again."
Silence. Again. Fuck fuck fuckity fuck.
"I think I'd be okay with it, if it brought you to my door," Eddie whispers.
Tears sting in Buck's eyes. He presses the bottom of his phone into his forehead until it begins to hurt. Clears his throat.
"How's the fixer-upper?"
Best friends. Nothing more. Nothing less. But.

buck: i can’t believe tommy would insinuate that i’m in love with eddie i mean sure i physically couldn’t sleep in his house because i missed him too much until i could distract myself with the guy who apparently felt like eddie was competition for our entire relationship but those things have nothing to do with each other. and anyway he’s straight. i mean surely YOU don’t think i’m in love with eddie. right?

maddie wants to do a little dinner party thing for eddie to welcome him home and because with how much buck talked about him while he was gone she sort of realized she doesn’t actually know him that well. so she invites him and chris over for dinner one night, and buck too because they live together now and because. obviously. and by the way she doesn’t really understand the living situation, like are they officially roommates now, or is it temporary while buck looks for a new place? because it IS eddie’s house no matter what her brother says, so it would be weird for buck to keep it and eddie and chris to go somewhere else. huh. but anyway she invites eddie and chris and also buck over for dinner. and they show up all three together in buck’s car, which makes sense because they’re coming from the same house. but they show up together and while buck is helping chris out of the truck with his things and smiling so big like 😄 at some joke chris told that maddie didn’t hear, eddie walks in the front door with a plate of cookies wrapped in aluminum foil and a casserole dish of baked mac and cheese that buck made and also a bottle of wine that they picked up on the way over. and he kisses her on the cheek and says ‘thanks for having us over, it’s great to get everyone together like this again’ (he says that – ‘again’, even though this isn't something they normally do). and maddie smiles at him and watches as her brother comes in and stands next to eddie at the kitchen counter while she pours them glasses of wine. and eddie’s hand comes up to where it looks like it’s resting on her brother’s back for a minute. and their shoulders bump and they glance over at each other like 😊 and she’s looking between them and they are not noticing that she’s doing this, but she’s watching them. and eddie is like oh hey i’m going to go see if chim needs any help on the grill. and goes out to the backyard. and buck is staring after him and smiling and maddie is standing in the same spot where buck stood a few weeks ago to say he wasn’t in love with him. and she knows. and she’s not going to say anything because she has always given buck space to figure these things out for himself, but she Knows.

okay so let's just recap what happened. maddie tells buck he should try making new friends because he's not coping well with his only friend eddie being gone. so buck tries to make friends with eddie's replacement, looking like a complete loser in the process, due to he doesn't know how to make friends and eddie's just a freak disguised as a pretty cool and normal dude. they manage to settle on an activity that eddie should probably not haunt (drinking) except for that buck is really intent on making sure eddie haunts everything and everyone so he spends the entire time talking about how he is eddie's princess and eddie is soooo good at stuff and has never done anything wrong in his life and he's so much fun, let's play this drinking game he taught me! ravi who is sick of this forcibly inserts tommy in his place and gets the hell out of there before buck can say eddie's name a billionth time. tommy doesn't really get what he's supposed to be doing there and doesn't give a shit until he learns that eddie is gone, upon which he Turns It On and they end up going back to. well. (tommy voice) eddie's house. buck has not unpacked a single thing and is never even there so they have tequila-drunk sex on a bare mattress without sheets or anything, there is definitely no lube available so it's definitely dry as fuck, and afterwards buck (drunk, just had sex) still has the wherewithal to change into his sleepytime shirt (he doesn't take his watch off though) before falling asleep, so it probably isn't all that athletic either. in the morning buck wakes up in an empty (sheetsless) bed and is like Haha okay he probably just left! but no. tommy's in eddie's kitchen and he has cooked 1 pound of bacon and 17 eggs and an entire fruit salad and chopped up celery and carrots and also cut 4 bagels AND brought champagne. to celebrate their dry ex sex they had on buck's bare mattress in eddie's house, which by the way he thinks it's super weird that they're in eddie's house, but hee hee eddie's gone so he can ignore it and GET IN THERE!!!!! like he's been waiting to do for months apparently. then for some reason when buck asks him if he's not afraid buck will break his heart anymore he decides the best response is to be like WELL YEAH NOW THAT YOUR BEST FRIEND HAS MOVED TO A DIFFERENT STATE. YOU KNOW, BECAUSE OF HIS FAMILY FALLING APART DUE TO HIS GRIEF. YEAH HE'S OUT OF THE WAY NOW SO IT'S ALL GOOD OVER HERE. HOW ABOUT SOME BUBBLY? and buck, understandably, is weirded out, and also freaked out, but even he is like. Ummmm. first of all eddie rented this house. and he's straight. so you're wrong about my feelings for him, which neither of those things address. also i don't have feelings for you btw. and then tommy walks out, leaving buck with approximately 80 united states dollars' worth of breakfast, so he can call an uber from eddie's front porch. and he has to sit there and wait for his uber, and probably he's thinking, Wow if i told buck i was getting an uber right now, buck would probably say, "me and eddie got an uber once!"
